Property Demand Remains Strong Despite the Pandemic

According to the University of Ulster House Price Service, transaction levels were down for the first quarter and half of the second quarter of 2020 . The reopening of the market led to strong levels of market enthusiasm as well as a marked uplift in transactions.

"Demand for residential property in Mid-Ulster is still strong. 

"We are seeing a very strong demand for four-bedroom homes with many buyers looking for larger detached homes.

"There certainly seems to be more people who are planning to work from home on a long term basis and who want a bit more space.

"There is also a scarcity of 2/3 bedroom bungalows which are suitable for down sizers.”

There are less first-time buyers in the market at present due to restricted loan to values which means buyers are needing to save a bigger deposit to purchase property with a mortgage.

In the Dungannon and South Tyrone Areas are seeing an innovative approach by some builders in new developments  who are prepared to reserve houses subject to an agreed extended time period to allow buyers to get a mortgage approved.
